Florida City sits directly south of our Homestead shop, founded in 1910 as a land-promotion settlement originally named Detroit before it incorporated in 1914 under its current name. It's where Florida's Turnpike ends and merges with US-1, making it the last stop before the Florida Keys and the main gateway into Everglades National Park. GXG Remodeling serves homeowners and property owners here right alongside our home base.

Like the rest of this part of Miami-Dade County, Florida City took a direct hit from Hurricane Andrew in 1992, and that storm led to one of the biggest overhauls of building code in Florida's history. What that means for us on the ground: a mix of homes rebuilt to the stricter post-Andrew standard and original construction old enough to have survived it, each needing a different level of prep before painting or remodeling. Florida City's position at the Turnpike and US-1 junction, right at the entrance to the Keys and the Everglades, also means more rental and investment properties in the mix than a purely residential area, alongside long-term family homes.
Because Florida City borders Homestead directly, we're often working both sides of that line in the same week, throughout:
Yes. Florida City borders our Homestead shop directly to the south, and it's one of the areas we work in most.
Yes. It was founded in 1910 as a land-promotion settlement originally named Detroit, then incorporated in December 1914, when the name changed to Florida City.
Regularly. Hurricane Andrew caused catastrophic damage across Florida City and Homestead in 1992 and led directly to a major overhaul of Florida's building code. We see a mix of homes rebuilt to that stricter post-Andrew standard and original construction that survived the storm.
We do. Florida City sits where the Turnpike ends and merges with US-1, right at the entrance to the Florida Keys and Everglades National Park, so there's a real mix of long-term residential homes and shorter-term rental or investment properties near that corridor. We work with both.
Florida City Elementary is the local elementary school; Homestead Middle and Homestead High serve the area for middle and high school, since Florida City doesn't have its own middle or high school within city limits.
