Florida City began in 1910 as a land promotion called Detroit and was incorporated in December 1914 under its current name. It sits at the point where the Turnpike ends at US-1, and it is the eastern gateway to the only road through Everglades National Park. What that history leaves behind is a bathroom mix you rarely see in one place: homes that came through Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and were repaired, homes rebuilt afterward, and newer construction, with family owners living next to people who rent. We have not seen every house, so we do not assume anything about yours until we have looked at it.
GXG Remodeling is based just up the road in Homestead and handles bathroom remodels in Florida City from a vanity and fixture update to a full gut with a new walk-in shower, with permits pulled through the City.

These ranges are general industry ballparks, shown for education only, not a GXG quote. Every project is custom, so your real price comes from a free estimate.
These are estimates, not a quote, and prices vary with materials, the season and the scope of the work. See our bathroom remodel cost guide, or call (786) 724-5571 for pricing specific to your project.
Andrew struck Florida City and Homestead in August 1992 and led to a major overhaul of Florida's building code. For a bathroom remodel that means two starting points. A house that was repaired after the storm may carry a bathroom from before 1992 inside newer repairs, while a house rebuilt afterward may be tied to the stricter code but still be decades old. Neither tells us what is behind the wall. At the estimate we look at the drain and supply lines we can see, the floor around the toilet and tub, and any sign of old leaks, so a repair shows up as a written line item and not a surprise once demolition starts. If you know when your bathroom was last touched, tell us.
In a smaller family bathroom, the tub is often the first thing homeowners want gone. A tub-to-shower conversion is among the most common requests we get, and it is where the glass door in the photo above comes in. The job is more than swapping fixtures. The drain location and floor structure decide how straightforward it is, the walls need continuous waterproofing before tile goes on, and the pan should be tested before it is covered. A frameless or semi-frameless door looks cleaner, but it is also a cost line, so we price glass separately so you can choose.
If you have older family members at home, a low-threshold shower is worth raising at the estimate. What is possible depends on the floor, and we will say so plainly.
Not every bathroom needs a gut. A new vanity and top, faucet, mirror, lighting, paint and fresh floor tile can change a bathroom while the plumbing stays where it is, which keeps scope and cost contained. A black faucet and hardware, as in our vanity photo, are a style choice and cost the same kind of labor as any other finish. Choose by how you will clean it. Large tiles with fewer grout lines are easier to wipe down in a humid room, and a matte finish hides water spots better than polished chrome.
Florida City is an incorporated city with its own Building Services office at 404 West Palm Drive, 33034. Work that moves or adds plumbing, adds electrical or touches structure typically needs a permit, and the City offers an online portal for applications, inspections and permit status. We do not quote permit fees here because we would be guessing, so we confirm the fee and the requirements for your scope with the office. We handle the paperwork and coordinate the inspections.
Florida City has long-term owners and renters, and many property owners here are landlords. If you rent your property, tell us at the estimate. A written scope with durable finishes and a clear price makes it easier to plan around a tenant, and permits are the owner's protection too. If you are a tenant, the property owner decides on a remodel, so have them contact us.
Florida requires state licensing for most remodeling trades, and you can look up any contractor's license, status and complaints for free on myfloridalicense.com. Ask for proof of liability insurance and workers' compensation, get the scope and price in writing, and be wary of anyone who asks for a large payment up front. We are happy to be checked, and you can read what other homeowners say in the reviews we have collected.
As a general industry ballpark, not a GXG quote, a half-bath refresh typically runs $3,500 to $9,000. A full bath with a tub or shower and vanity usually falls between $8,000 and $22,000, and a primary bath often runs $15,000 to $35,000 and up. These are estimates that vary with materials, the season and the scope. Plumbing that moves, glass and tile choices, and repairs found after demo move the number most. The City of Florida City, not Miami-Dade County. Its Building Services office is at 404 West Palm Drive, and the City runs an online portal for applications, inspection scheduling and permit status. Work that moves or adds plumbing, adds electrical or touches structure typically needs a permit. We confirm the requirement for your scope with the City before we start.
Yes, it is one of the most common bathroom requests we get. The drain location and the floor structure decide how simple it is, and we check both at the estimate. We handle demolition, waterproofing, tile, fixtures and glass as one project.
Yes. If you own a rental, tell us your priorities at the estimate, such as durable finishes, easy cleaning and a scope you can keep to a budget. We give you a written scope so the work and the price are clear before it starts.
It depends on the scope. A vanity and fixture update is far quicker than a full gut with a new shower. Special-order tile, custom glass and inspections are the usual reasons a schedule stretches. You get a specific timeline in writing with your estimate.
